St. Brigid's Day

St. Brigid's Crosses

On the first of February we celebrated St. Brigid's Day.
We learned about St. Brigid in History and English and made St. Brigid's crosses to celebrate the coming of springtime.
Sister Mary very kindly supplied the rushes that we used and she showed us how to create the crosses.
We really enjoyed making them as they were a challenge at first! We all helped each other and worked well together.
Special thanks to Sister Mary.

Mindfulness in room 13

"Positive Mind, Positive Vibes, Positive Life"

Each day we try to take a few minutes to become more mindful of ourselves and our learning. School life is very busy and we think that it's important to focus our minds throughout the day to ensure we are learning and participating to the best of our abilities.
We often start the day with a mindful activity which helps us start the day on a positive note.

Mindfulness also helps us to have a positive outlook when we are playing and working with our friends. It encourages us to be a team player and to forgive our friends when they hurt our feelings.

In this activity Holly and Aimee are imagining a balloon that they will release into the sky.

" Breathe, Step Back, Think, Then React"

"Be Kind to Yourself"

Mindfulness only takes a few minutes and it gives us a chance to be present in the moment.
